Tinned Sardines Sardines, decoded.

15-Minute Sardine Pasta

Sardine pasta with breadcrumbs, lemon and chilli

One tin, one pan, fifteen minutes:

  1. Boil pasta in well-salted water; save a mug of the pasta water before draining.
  2. Meanwhile, warm the oil from the sardine tin in a wide pan and sizzle sliced garlic and a pinch of chilli flakes for 1 minute.
  3. Add the sardines and break them into large pieces - let them warm through without mashing them to a paste.
  4. Add the drained pasta with a splash of pasta water and toss until glossy.
  5. Finish with lemon juice and zest, and shower with toasted breadcrumbs and parsley.

Start with a beginner tin or the Starter Kit.
