Tinned Sardines Sardines, decoded.

How to Eat Sardines (A Beginner's First Tin)

An open tin of sardines, seen from above

Buy a skinless & boneless tin in olive oil. Open it, put a fillet on buttered toast with lemon juice and flaky salt. That is the whole technique. If you like it, graduate to whole fish on toast, then to sardine pasta and the 'sardine plate' (tinned fish, pickles, mustard, crackers). Do not start with the cheapest water-packed whole tin in the store - that is how people decide they hate sardines.
